چکیده

Radio frequency (RF) spectrum is a scarce resource from the perspective of allocation; in the U.S., almost all RF spectrum has already been allocated for specific uses. Much of this allocated spectrum, however, remains idle for large portions of time, and thus RF spectrum is actually a plentiful resource from the perspective of occupancy. Accommodating new wireless services and technologies will require loosening of restrictions on the use of allocated spectrum and sharing of this spectrum among many different types of users. We consider opportunistic use of RF spectrum and in particular the problem of finding communications channels for a group of opportunistic users intending to form a network. The procedure for selecting channels as well as opportunistic use of them should cause minimal interference for primary users and their clients and should not require a preexisting control channel. We provide a simple, distributed algorithm that satisfies these goals, to be executed by the opportunistic users for advertising and negotiating channels, and we illustrate its behavior through simulation and analysis.

A Novel Multicast Tree Construction Algorithm for Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks

Many appealing multicast services such as on-demand TV, teleconference, online games and etc. can benefit from high available bandwidth in multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. When multiple simultaneous transmissions use a similar channel to transmit data packets, network performance degrades to a large extant. Designing a good multicast tree to route data packets could enhance the...

On Joint Sub-channel Allocation, Duplexing Mode Selection, and Power Control in Full-Duplex Co-Channel Femtocell Networks

As one of the promising approaches to increase the network capacity, Full-duplex (FD) communications have recently gained a remarkable attention. FD communication enables wireless nodes to simultaneously send and receive data through the same frequency band. Thanks to the recent achievements in the self-interference (SI) cancellation, this type of communication is expected to be potentially uti...

Learning Nash Equilibria in Distributed Channel Selection for Frequency-agile Radios

Wireless communication networks are evolving towards selfconfiguring, autonomous and distributed multiagent systems in which nodes are deployed randomly and have to adapt to the environment in which they operate. A cognitive network is a selforganising system that relies on the ability of its autonomous nodes to support communication in an adaptive and distributed manner. In this paper we addre...

A multichannel CSMA MAC protocol with receiver-based channel selection for multihop wireless networks

In this paper, we propose a CSMA-based medium access control protocol for multihop wireless networks that uses multiple channels and a dynamic channel selection method. The proposed protocol uses one control channel and N data channels, where N is independent of the number of nodes in the network. The source uses an exchange of control packets on the control channel to decide on the best channe...

IMNTV-Identifying Malicious Nodes using Trust Value in Wireless Sensor Networks

Security is the major area of concern in communication channel. Security is very crucial in wireless sensor networks which are deployed in remote environments. Adversary can disrupt the communication within multi hop sensor networks by launching the attack. The common attacks which disrupt the communication of nodes are packet dropping, packet modification, packet fake routing, badmouthing atta...
